How would you describe yourself?
I'd say that I’m curious about many areas of study like art, nature, insects, animals and alchemy. 也, I am ambitious and driven. I enjoy challenges and am always looking for an opportunity to do better and learn something new. I give everything to what I’m doing; there is no “in between” with me.
What was your reason for returning to school?
I’m not a native English language speaker, but I decided to take a high-school level English course to learn and understand this beautiful language. I thought that this would help me communicate properly wherever I go.
What did it take to get you here?
It took me a lot of thinking to get here. With a full-time job, and home duties that never seem to be over, it seemed almost impossible for me to enrol into a course. Then, after I arranged two days off of work for homework and meetings from school, I did it. Some days were easier than others, but I made the journey, 并通过它, dedication and patience were my best allies.
What does a typical school day look like for you?
I normally get up early and start my day with a cup of coffee. I then quickly go over my to-do list and prepare a workstation with my books, notebook, and computer. I only have two days off during the week and I assign them for my school, so I can put all my attention and energy on it. I spend about two hours working on my assignments before I take a break.
What does your support group look like, including your own support?
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed or afraid to do or learn new things, but I push myself to do it if I know it is good for me. My husband is my number one supporter; he pushes me to get better in life even when I’m afraid or hesitant. My family are also supportive. Even though they are far away, they want me to be successful and cheer me whenever I set a new goal, or I tell them about a new project.
In your opinion, how has Selkirk College supported you?
Selkirk College has been there for me. After I took a First Aid course, I could help injured people. 也, because I have taken many other courses through Selkirk College, doors have opened for me, 在学术领域, and also with job opportunities that I might need to meet my future goals.
Through your time taking AUD courses with Selkirk College, what have you learned about yourself?
I have learned to trust myself, relax and let go of my insecurities. I let the teacher guide us through the course and asked for help when I was in trouble. I’m really thankful that Selkirk College has been there for me with an open door, and they have provided learning materials. 也, I would like to give a big star to the teachers for being so professional, knowledgeable and caring.
